Symposium on Evidence Based Clinical Practice

On May 5, 2018, the College of Pharmacy organized a Symposium on “Evidence Based Clinical Practice” at Dusit Thani hotel in Dubai. The speakers were from the Gulf Medical University’s College of Pharmacy and from Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi. There were over 100 participants including Pharmacy practitioners, academic staffs and pharmacy students. The symposium offered 8 MOHAP accredited CME hours.

The scientific sessions consisted of presentations, group activities, and student poster presentation on critical appraisal of published articles, for which three best presented students received awards.

Professor Sherief Khalifa, Dean of the College of Pharmacy indicated that the event emphasizes the importance of joining hands between academic and healthcare institutions to improve education, enhance practice and elevate the pharmacy profession.

Dr. Dixon Thomas, the Chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice highlighted the importance of student participation in such events. He further said, the critical appraisal abilities are essential components in pharmacy education to create evidence-based pharmacists.
