Welcome to College of Health Sciences, GMU!
College of Health Sciences works under the broad umbrella of GMU Academic Health System and is dedicated to offer programs that generate the members of health care team of tomorrow – who are knowledgeable, competent and ethical clinicians – sensitive to the cultural and social service needs of the society. We hope to accomplish this goal by providing a dynamic and challenging curriculum, focusing on our students and blending the best of both traditional and modern pedagogical methods: large group lectures, small group discussions, case-based learning and computerized instruction.
Health Care- A Teamwork is the present work scenario in patient care. College of Health Sciences offers Bachelor programs in health care fields of Physiotherapy (BPT), Medical Laboratory Sciences (BSc. MLS), Medical Imaging Sciences (BSc. MIS) and Anesthesia Technology (BSc. AT). These programs provide the students opportunities to pursue different health professions and who want to work in health sector and serve the needy. These professions are important part of healthcare team.
CoHS also offers Maters programs in Physical therapy (MPT) and Medical Laboratory Sciences (MSc. MLS).
We offer internship programs in Physiotherapy, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Imaging Sciences and Anesthesia Technology that are approved by the Ministry of Health and Prevention.
All the programs offered in the college are competency based and are aligned to the UAE National Qualification Framework at the appropriate levels. We give top priority for one-to-one clinical teaching at our clinical education facilities. To enhance the clinical skills along with classroom teaching students will be trained in the skills laboratories and will be posted at various centers throughout the duration of study. Various instructional strategies and technologies will be used to teach students about career opportunities and their associated roles and new professional responsibilities.
Biggest advantage for students at CoHS is that clinical training is incorporated in the curriculum right form the initial days to mold the students into competent professionals of tomorrow. Clinical Training is offered in JCI accredited hospitals, medical centers, physical therapy and rehabilitation hospital, CAP accredited diagnostic laboratories, in Ajman, Fujairah, Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah and Dubai. Early clinical training is conducted in state-of-the-art advanced Simulation facility and in house pre-clinical labs that are located within the campus. Workplace environment and culture is embedded into the students right from the early years of professional education and promotes us to employ our graduates in our own facilities.
