College of Medicine is an integral part of the GMU Academic Health System which integrates academia and research with healthcare providing a unique vehicle of quality in patient care, education and discovery.
Apart from our signature Doctor of Medicine (MD) program with its Learning Outcomes aligned to the World Federation of Medical Education (WFME, USA) Quality Standards, College of Medicine offers the Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences (BBMS) program internationally accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS), UK; the Higher Diploma in Pre-Clinical Sciences (HDPCS) program in collaboration with reputed international universities in Poland, Italy, Malaysia, Egypt, Ghana, etc.; Master in Public Health (MPH) program in collaboration with The University of Arizona, USA; Masters / Diploma in Health Professions Education (MHPE/DHPE) Programs; and the recently introduced Dual Degree PhD in Precision Medicine program in collaboration with the top-ranked University Paris Saclay, France.
All programs offered by the College are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA), Ministry of Education (MOE), UAE. The competency-based curricula of our programs are benchmarked with internationally known competency frameworks with emphasis on effective communication skills, early clinical exposure, evidence-based medicine, inter-professional education, professionalism and ethics, and social accountability. We have adopted international best practices in teaching/learning and assessment approaches. Graduates are trained to become self-learners and life-long learners to adapt to the rapidly changing advances in the chosen professional field.
Our unique strength is that we own our clinical training facilities which includes JCI accredited Thumbay Group of Hospitals, Ambulatory Care Thumbay Clinics, CAP accredited diagnostic Thumbay Laboratories, a state-of-the-art Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare (CASH), and a world-class Thumbay Research Institute for Precision Medicine (TRIPM) undertaking cutting-edge research focused on cancer, diabetes, infectious diseases, public health and health professions education. This has enabled us to embed our students across programs into the workplace environment very early, and at another level, employ our graduates in our own healthcare facilities.
The college offers the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) approved Medical Internship and Medical Laboratory Sciences Internship programs. In addition, we work in close partnership with our health regulatory authorities and healthcare industry for clinical placements and internship training for our graduates. We have established strategic collaborations with reputed international universities across the globe for offering collaborative degree programs, student and faculty exchange, student electives, internship placements and research.
Our alumni remain our best ambassadors. Our 1400+ graduates from over 18 cohorts are well placed across the globe, including many practicing in the country and the region contributing to the health and knowledge economy of the nation and the region, which aligns with our vision and mission.
