GMU College of Pharmacy Contributes to a Panel Discussion on the Role of Education and training in Shaping Pharmacy practice

On Friday October 29, 2021, Dr. Sherief Khalifa was part of a panel discussion focusing on the role of education and training in shaping pharmacy practice. Panelists included Dr. Janice Perkins, Consultant in Patient Safety & Pharmacy Practice, UK and Dr. Munira Abdalla, Clinical Pharmacist, University Hospital, Sharjah, UAE. The session was moderated by Dr. Yousaf Ahmad, Chief Pharmacist, Practice Plus Group, UK.

The discussion tackled question of interest like: What can we do better in education and training to help influence practice in a positive way, is education influencing practice or is practice driving education, what is the one thing we should remove from current pharmacy curriculua and the one thing we should include in the curriculum to help drive practice in the right direction?

Dean Khalifa commented: “It is always a pleasure to speak with colleagues in UAE, the region and internationally to exchange ideas and learn from each other about how we can make changes to improve the quality of our graduates and make them ready to practice globally”.
